Disney Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger told employees Tuesday during an internal town hall that he is looking forward to "building again" after spending 2023 mending parts of the business that "needed attention." After speaking alone for about 15 minutes, Iger was joined by Disney head of parks and resorts Josh D'Amaro, ESPN chief Jimmy Pitaro, and Disney Entertainment co-chairs Dana Walden and Alan Bergman. Disney said this month it projects to save $7.5 billion this year, largely through job elimination and content spending rollbacks. "What Bob and I have talked about is we don't just want to flip the switch," Pitaro said. "We don't want to just move our networks over and make them available over the top without significant product enhancements."

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu holds a press conference with Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz (not pictured) in the Kirya military base in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Oct. 28, 2023. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that there will be no cease-fire in Gaza unless Hamas agrees to release Israeli hostages. He also said, in an exclusive interview with David Muir, the anchor for ABC News "World News Tonight," that Israel will have to oversee "security responsibility" in Gaza "for an indefinite period" in order to ensure that Hamas cannot carry out large-scale terrorism acts again. Israeli attacks on Gaza have killed more than 10,000 Palestinians since Oct. 7, according to the Hamas-run Palestinian Health Ministry. The total number of deaths recorded over the 31 days of fighting is 10,022, including 4,102 children, the ministry said.

Comments by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel appeared to confirm that Israel is preparing to play at least some role in controlling Gaza for a time after fighting ends. Israel will need to oversee the security of the Gaza Strip “for an indefinite period” once the war with Hamas is over, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in an interview with ABC News that aired on Monday. Asked who should govern Gaza when the war ends, Mr. Netanyahu responded that he thought Israel would “have the overall security responsibility” over the territory indefinitely. Mr. Netanyahu did not elaborate in the ABC interview on what “overall security responsibility” over Gaza would entail but said, “Those who don’t want to continue the way of Hamas” should be in charge. Israeli officials have publicly said it is premature to discuss governance for Gaza and that they are focused on immediate military objectives.

ABC News staffers are in shock over the departure of multiple senior-level colleagues, most notably Wendy Fisher, SVP news gathering. ABC News alone lost 50 staffers on Thursday as part of the slim-down and a leadership reorganization by division President Kim Godwin. A second ABC News insider said it was unprecedented to dismiss longtime veterans in such a manner.

[1/2] Former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden addresses the International Association of Fire Fighters in Washington, U.S., March 12, 2019. REUTERS/Kevin LamarqueWASHINGTON, Feb 27 (Reuters) - U.S. first lady Jill Biden wants Americans to know that her husband, President Joe Biden, does plan to run for a second four-year term, and she's all for it - even as a formal declaration of his intentions has yet to be made. Cedric Richmond, a former Biden White House adviser, said Biden would announce "whenever he's ready" when asked if an announcement was coming in March or April. Some 71% of respondents, including 52% of Democrats, said they did not believe that Biden should run for re-election in 2024. Democratic strategist Bud Jackson said the issue of whether Biden should run again is a topic of great debate in Democratic circles.
Former Vice President Mike Pence said voters will "have better choices" for a presidential candidate than Donald Trump, who announced his third bid for the office on Tuesday night from his Mar-a-Lago resort. "I think we’ll have better choices in the future," Pence told ABC's David Muir. Pence's latest comments come after months of distancing himself from Trump over his actions on Jan. 6. Asked at a Georgetown University event in October if he would support Trump if he becomes the GOP nominee for president, Pence said, “Well, there might be somebody else I’d prefer more." He appeared to edge closer to confirming plans for a 2024 run during a New Hampshire Institute of Politics “Politics & Eggs” event in August.
The former vice president said in an interview with David Muir of ABC's "World News Tonight" that Trump’s tweet “angered” him. “I mean, the president’s words were reckless and his actions were reckless,” Pence told Muir in an excerpt of the interview released Sunday. He added, “The president’s words that day at the rally endangered me and my family and everyone at the Capitol building,” according to ABC News. In his tweet that afternoon, Trump said Pence "didn't have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution." In the interview, Pence said that after Trump's tweet, "I turned to my daughter, who was standing nearby, and I said, 'It doesn’t take courage to break the law.
Mike Pence blasted Trump's words and actions on January 6, 2021, in a new interview. Pence was "angered" when Trump targeted him in a tweet while Pence was barricaded in the Capitol. He said Trump endangered him and his family with his statements that day. In another excerpt cited by ABC News, Pence said: "The president's words were reckless and his actions were reckless." He continued by saying that Trump's comments at the rally before the riot started "endangered me and my family and everyone at the Capitol building."
That was an improvement over the previous year, but still not nearly enough given the threat the climate crisis presents for humanity, Hu told Insider. "I could spend 20 minutes talking about the destruction from climate change. "More people are aware of this climate crisis and that we have to do something about it because of our actions," Harris said. "Journalists don't report on the climate crisis like it is an emergency. Ridiculous stunts like the art action gets the climate crisis into the headlines and millions of people talking."
